Haworthia 'Miami' is a slow growing, low maintenance succulent with a compact growth habit. Thick, rubbery, dark green leaves have distinct white ridges running horizontally, creating a fascinating pattern and texture that begs to be touched!
Light: Haworthia plants thrive in bright, indirect light. They can tolerate some direct sunlight but should be protected from harsh afternoon sun, which can scorch their leaves.
Watering: Water your Haworthia thoroughly when the soil is completely dry. Be cautious not to overwater, as they are susceptible to root rot. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings, especially during the winter months when growth slows.
Temperature: Haworthia prefers moderate temperatures between 60–85°F (16–29°C). They are not frost-tolerant, so keep them in a warm indoor environment.
Soil: Use well-draining soil, such as cactus or succulent mix, to prevent water retention around the roots. You can also add perlite or sand to increase drainage.
Humidity: These plants prefer low humidity, making them perfect for dry indoor conditions. Avoid overly damp environments.
Fertilization: Haworthia does not require heavy feeding. Fertilize lightly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer once a month. Avoid fertilizing in the winter.
Repotting: Repot when the plant outgrows its container or when the soil becomes compacted. Generally, every 2-3 years should be sufficient.
Pests: Haworthia is relatively pest-resistant but may occasionally attract mealybugs or scale. Inspect the plant regularly and treat infestations promptly.
With minimal care, Haworthia is an easy-to-grow succulent, making it a great choice for beginners!
