Euphorbia obesa f. monstruosa has slowly branching stems showing many growing variations forming irregular clumps with several heads that are gray green, marked with horizontal red, brown or purple bands depending on amount of light it receives. Tiny leaves fall off soon after emerging. Yellow flowers appear on branched stalks at the top of the stems. Will tolerate partial shade, for best color and blooms provide with full direct sun. Can survive drought, but does best when watered once the top 1" of soil is dry during spring and summer, During winter, water just enough to prevent wrinkling and wilting. All euphorbias produce a toxic sap that can cause irritation to skin and eyes, it is best to keep away from pets and children.
