Lanonia dasyantha is a very rare palm from northern Vietnam, with exceptionally beautiful mottled variegation of yellow dots and rings on its deep green, fan shaped leaves.
This species is famous not only for its mottled leaves, but also for its ease of cultivation and higher cold tolerance compared to Licuala mapu. Indoors, it needs a warm area with consistent moisture and humidity in filtered light. Outdoors, mature specimens are reported to survive brief cold spells going down to 28F.
These seedlings are just beginning to develop their signature mottling, for vibrant mottling be sure to keep it in filtered light. Will tolerate bright light but the contrast in variegation will not be as pronounced.
Formerly under the name Licuala dasyantha, it is listed as a vulnerable species on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species due to habitat loss.
Collectors, do not miss this unique opportunity!
Some leaves may have old bacterial spotting on lower leaves but have been treated & new leaves should continue to grow with no new spots.
