Astrophytum myriostygma 'Variegata' is a spineless solitary plant with random yellow variegation. A transverse section of the stem reveal a perfect 5 pointed star shaped form like the common star-fish giving the plant the appearance of a bishop's mitre (hence the common name Bishop's cap).
Variegated and albino cacti are regarded as choice and difficult in cultivation, but despite that, these are relatively easy to grow! They cannot tolerate prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, so grow them in half-shade or under filtered sun. Water sparingly from March till October and keep dry in winter.
